Erica Scrivner is the Director of Bands and Music Technology at Carl Hayden Community High School and the Director of Phoenix Union Indoor Percussion. Erica Scrivner is returning as the Performing Arts Instructional Leader for the 18-19 school year and participates in several campus committees as well as district curriculum-writing teams. Miss Erica received her National Board Certification in December of 2017.

After receiving her Master of Music: Music Education degree from Arizona State University, Erica taught elementary general music and elementary band in the Mesa Public Schools District before pursuing a career at the secondary level. As a trumpet player, her primary educational medium is high school band. Miss Erica has spent nine years teaching high school marching band, winter drumline, and winterguard.  For many of those years she has worked alongside her husband, Joel Scrivner, as both share a passion for teaching music in the high school setting. Joel currently assists the percussionists at Carl Hayden as a volunteer instructor and the husband-wife team work together to arrange customized music and write custom drill for the Falcon marching programs in both fall and winter seasons.

As a performer, Erica Scrivner has played in a variety of community ensembles including the Wildwood Community Jazz Band, Danville Community Band and Reno Municipal Band. Throughout her undergraduate at the University of Nevada, Reno she enjoyed a wide variety of performance opportunities including wind bands, musicals, choir, pep band, and marching ensembles. Miss Erica spent six years as a member of DCI drum and bugle corps including the Santa Clara Vanguard and the Concord Blue Devils, as well as two years marching with WGI Independent A class finalist, eNVision Percussion Theatre.



Frederick Ochoa is a music educator based in the Phoenix metro area whose goal is to provide a quality music education that is accessible to all students, regardless of their background, demographic, or socioeconomic status.

Freddy received his Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Arizona State University in 2019 where he studied with Dr. Christopher Creviston, world-renowned soloist and soprano saxophone chair of the Capitol Quartet. Throughout his collegiate studies, Freddy performed with a variety of groups at ASU including the Jazz Repertory Band, the Wind Ensemble, and the Virtus Quartet, in addition to performing with Breakthrough Indoor at the 2016 WGI World Championships and with the ASU Saxophone Choir at the 2020 North American Saxophone Alliance Biennial Conference.

Since 2015, Freddy has been an avid teacher in the marching arts scene in Arizona and has worked with the band programs at Carl Hayden High School, Corona del Sol High School, Chandler High School, Ingleside Middle School, and Akimel Middle School.

Currently, Freddy is the Director of Bands and Choir at Carl Hayden High School in Phoenix, Arizona. In addition, he is also on the design team and an instructor at Phoenix Union Indoor, where he was a founding staff member in 2016.
