Mr. Freddy Ochoa is a music educator based in the Phoenix metro area whose goal is to provide a quality music education that is accessible to all students, regardless of their background, demographic, or socioeconomic status.
Freddy received his Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Arizona State University in 2019 where he studied with Dr. Christopher Creviston, world-renowned soloist and soprano saxophone chair of the Capitol Quartet. Throughout his collegiate studies, Freddy performed with a variety of groups at ASU including the Jazz Repertory Band, the Wind Ensemble, and the Virtus Quartet, in addition to performing with Breakthrough Indoor at the 2016 WGI World Championships and with the ASU Saxophone Choir at the 2020 North American Saxophone Alliance Biennial Conference.
Since 2015, Freddy has been an avid teacher in the marching arts scene in Arizona and has worked with the band programs at Carl Hayden High School, Corona del Sol High School, Chandler High School, Ingleside Middle School, and Akimel Middle School.
Currently, Freddy is the Director of Bands at Carl Hayden High School in Phoenix, Arizona. In addition, he is Program Director at Phoenix Union Indoor, where he was a founding staff member in 2016.
Mr. Kevin Weingartner is a music educator based in Phoenix, Arizona. Prior to earning his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Arizona State University, Mr. Weingartner earned his Associate of Applied Science degree in Audio Production Technologies from Mesa Community College in December of 2013, where he learned the foundations of recording studio techniques, live sound production, and electronic music production. During his time at MCC, Mr. Weingartner also took the time to develop his musical skills on the trumpet, playing in a variety of ensemble settings, including concert bands, jazz bands, brass quintets, and more. Upon completion of his studies at MCC, Mr. Weingartner attended Arizona State University, completing his Bachelor of Music Education degree in 2018. During his time at ASU, Mr. Weingartner continued to cultivate his musicianship by actively participating in a variety of ensembles, including an improv-based instrumental/dance ensemble.
The 2022-2023 school year will be Mr. Weingartner’s fifth as an educator, both in the Phoenix Union High School District, and as a teacher overall. Prior to his appointment as Director of Music Technology and Bands at Carl Hayden Community High School, Mr. Weingartner has worked the previous four years as the Director of Bands at Central High School in Phoenix.
As a proponent of lifelong musicianship and performance, Mr. Weingartner actively performs with The Salt River Brass, and works as a freelance musician, providing trumpet performances in solo and small ensemble settings. Mr. Weingartner also works as a DJ and audio specialist, providing recording services for musicians, and Digital DJ services for a variety of events. Outside of his work as an educator and musician, Mr. Weingartner enjoys working on his new house with his wife, Jaimi, and spending time together with their chihuahua mix, BB.
